09/10/2006 PCYC Commissioners Shield

On Tuesday 3rd October & Wednesday 4th October PCYC in conjunction with the NRL and NSW Police staged the 3 regional tournaments that make up the 2006 Commissioners Shield consisting of Boys Rugby League 7's and Girls League Tag 7's.  This year for the first time the tournament was played over 3 venues including Bathurst, Wyong and St. Mary's with the best teams qualifying to progress to the finals at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday 4 November.

The theme of the tournament was 'RESPECT' a value we know helps us to play football well as well as live life well.  The values being promoted were to respect yourself and know what you stand for, treat others the way you wish to be treated and help build a safer community.  Special NRL guests at each tournament spoke on these values including Michael Monaghan, Dean Widders, Andrew Ryan and Joe Nulavou.  After their talks they happily mingled with players and signed many autographs.  We thank them very much for their time and support of the event.

All matches were keenly contested and teams came from far and wide to compete.  Congratulations to all teams that made the journey to participate and upheld the ideals of the day:
